"What about the boy child?"

I'm sure we have had enough of women empowerment, lets address the males. Feminism is about recognizing the rights of both male and female, and that the one gender is not superior to the other. The socially constructed norms/vales throughout history has resulted to stereotypes of how a man should act and how a woman should act. With that, it is tattooed on our brains which then causes problems during adulthood as women are domesticated and men are emotionless. This is a barrier created to hinder us from living life to its fullest. Enemy of success.

Like i previously mentioned, throughout our childhood, we are taught a very rigid way of living life so we become what society wants us to be and not who we really want to be. Boys are told, "Qina!"; "Toughen up!"; "Men don't cry." and "You are the breadwinner, feel and fear nothing." and unfortunately, this results in us being surrounded by broken men. The spirit of hard work and success shouldn't come from fear or something you have to do or else you are considered as weak. Why do we normalize feelings and emotions as being weak but yet preach about emotional intelligence. This is not me giving excuses why men do the things they do because everyone is the creator of their own life and can choose to change for the better or stay the same but making you all realize some of the norms we grow up following really mess us up mentally.

Men tend to run away from reality and their problems because they find it difficult to feel, express themselves and have a rather rigid way of overcoming their problems. Some feel like financial support is enough because they are taught to provide for their family while the mother gives the emotional support. We need to stop acting as if there is a book or guide on how life should be lived and creating rigid gender identities and roles. Let's stop telling males to be emotionless and then go and complain about. Let's stop telling each other what to do and how we should live our lives. However...

There is no excuse to hurt others because you don't want to be the one that gets hurt first or maybe you have been hurt a couple of times. There is no excuse for you to play with people's hearts by having multiple of romantic partners to prove that you the boss of the game. There is no excuse to pursue something when you know you have only bad intentions and not your partners best interests at heart. There is no excuse to abandon your children and not support them emotionally and financially. Do not run away from your mistakes and problems. Own up and deal with the consequences. Life happens to everyone of us, running away from your problems or past does not help with anything but it continues to haunt you - it doesn't just disappear, it sticks with you for life. So instead of painting yourself as this gender that is reckless, own up to your mistakes, change your mentality and behavior, and act accordingly. Allow yourself to feel and handle things in a proper manner.

Men, it's okay to express yourself, it's okay to feel and no it's not being weak. In actual fact, you are understanding your emotions which works on your emotional intelligence. Knowing how to act and react in different situations is key. It actually takes a lot to get things off your chest and its totally worth it - you feel more relieved. Bottling up your emotions leads to anger and bitterness and depression - cut the pressure. Macho man for who?

Let's empower each other to be the best versions of ourselves with no negative socially constructed gender roles in the of our success.
